Hvat hendir, tá ið tú ert kristiligur og varnast, at títt barn er LGBTQ+?

Filmurin tekur okkum á eina ferð við sonevndu “Mama Bears”, sum hóast teirra fundamentalistisku bakgrund velja at seta vinalag, kirkjufelagskap og familjuna sjálva í váða fyri at rúma sínum LGBTQ+ børnum.
Mama Bears eru allastaðni í Amerika, men eru einans at finna á privatum Facebook bólkum, har tær kjakast um kærleika og góðvild. “Vit fara ikki at síggja nakra broyting í lóggávuni fyrr enn vit broyta boðskapin, ið vit hoyra í kirkjustólunum frá okkara prædikarum”, letur úr einari Mama Bear. Hetta er ein tankavekjandi heimildarfilmur, ið birtir vón, samstundis sum hann varpar ljós á beiskar sannleikar um sjálvmorð og umvendingarviðgerðir, ið enn eru lógligar í fleiri londum.

What happens when you are a religious Christian and you find out that your child is LGBTQ+? This film takes us on a jour- ney with the so called ‘’Mama Bears’’ who might have grown up as fundamental Christians, however decide to risk losing the friendship, church communities and even family in order to support their LGBTQ+ children.

Mama Bears can be found all around the US, but are connected through private Facebook groups – They want to spread love and kindness. ‘’We are not going to see changes in our legislative halls until we change what we hear in the pews from the pulpits of our churches’’, says one Mama Bear – This is a thought pro- voking documentary that gives us hope, however also tells us the harsh truths about suicide and conversion therapy – that still is legal in several countries.
