Vessel follows a passionate Dutch doctor Rebecca Gomperts and her team on a quest to help women and girls who suf – fer under anti-abortion laws around the world. Rebecca saw an opportunity using laws governing international waters and founded ‘Women on Waves’, bringing much-needed abortion and contra – ceptive services to those with no other recourse on a ship in offshore waters. Throughout the film we travel to numer- ous countries witnessing the creation of underground networks of emboldened, informed activists, working at the cutting edge of global reproductive rights, who trust women to handle abortion themselves.

Despite religious, political, and logistical obstacles, ’Women on Waves’ must produce creative ways to enable the information needed to empower the women who want to take charge of their own bodies and fate. A strong inspiring documentary still rele – vant in our current political climate.
